The Writing Circle was founded by Connie Josefs as a place for writers to come together to write, engage in literary discussion and share their experience of the writing process. The first workshops were held in 1991 in a small studio in Los Angeles. Writers have gone on to win awards, attend MFA programs and publish books, essays and stories.

The Writing Circle offers programs that stimulate the imagination, further the development of craft and support the writing process. Programs include group workshops, editing, coaching and manuscript consultation. Critique is framed constructively and builds upon the core of a work’s strengths. This approach is central to The Writing Circle’s philosophy, its respect for each writer’s voice, and for that unique intersection of awareness, craft and imagination that shapes a writer’s story.
